Moving around in space by your own means, is slow and difficult, but rewarding. From simple things like getting to work every morning, or going to the movies, or checking out the entire coast of an island, I want to get there via transport that is powered by me. Feel my muscles get tired, my hurt pumping, sweating, breathing, wind in my face. That’s how I know I’m going somewhere. I bike 30 miles to and from work almost daily, to get to a job that gets me paddling on one of the busiest, most urban waterways in the U.S., where I get to teach and get people on the water and share what I do for a living. It’s not only what I do, it’s what I am.
